Lauren Lyngstad

Lauren Lyngstad is a Fargo, North Dakota native who attended Southern Methodist University as a President’s Scholar and a member of the University Honors Program. Her hobbies include spending time outdoors, reading and being an avid SMU basketball fan. Upon graduation in May 2014, Lauren will pursue a career as a consultant with Sendero in Dallas, TX. She hopes to eventually return to school to pursue an MBA that will enable her to later pursue career options in sports marketing.

The FOX Sports University Program was without a doubt the most valuable experience that I had as an undergrad. The scope of the project and the expectations set challenged our team but helped us grow professionally in ways that I could never imagine.

While I was going through interviews for full-time positions, the FOX Sports University Program never failed to impress potential employers. The responsibility that this program places upon participants is perfect preparation for the real world.

I consider winning the FOX Sports University program the perfect capstone to my career as a student at SMU’s Cox School of Business. It was such an honor for our team to take home the victory, and I will never forget the feeling of having our names announced as the winners by FOX.

Sarah Aboukhair

Sarah Aboukhair

Sarah Aboukhair is from Burleson, TX. Before attending university, she was homeschooled since the third grade, and spent her middle school to high school years traveling internationally and taking language immersion courses. Sarah also pursued music composition, performance, and recording. After high school, Sarah shifted her focus from music to business. She graduated from Southern Methodist University in May 2014 with a BBA in Marketing from the Cox School of Business and a Minor in English. During her undergraduate experience, Sarah was a Marketing intern at Republic Property Group, a real estate development firm in Dallas, and worked within the company’s marketing department for two years. Now, she is a candidate for Juris Doctor at SMU Dedman School of Law, planning on graduating in May 2017. After graduating from law school, Sarah plans on pursuing a career in international consulting. Sarah’s main personal interests are international studies, languages, music composition, and eating at as many fabulous Dallas restaurants as possible before graduating.

My experience with Fox Sports University was a highlight of my last semester in undergrad. It was an actual work experience and challenged me and showed me how powerful marketing can be. Not to mention, it was one of the coolest projects I could have asked for! Soccer is my favorite sport to follow, and creating a national campaign for soccer was an incredible opportunity.

Fox Sports University pushed me and my team to stop thinking as students and to think as true marketers. We conducted research and had so many brain storming processes, and we even had to throw away our project in the middle of the semester and start over! In the end, however, it was so rewarding seeing the hard work and all the guidance and investment Fox Sports University gave us develop into our final 360 degree campaign.

The entire process of developing our campaign was hard work, but also unbelievably fun and gave us a taste as to what a career in Marketing would be like.

Fox Sports University is an awesome program – the people are wonderful and encouraging and gifted, and it was an honor learning and working with everyone involved!

Karamarie White

Karamarie White

Karamarie White is a graduate of the Edwin L. Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University, where she received a BBA in Marketing. She is from San Diego, CA and is currently working as an Associate in Analytics & Insights at Golin, an international Public Relations firm in Dallas, TX. Her favorite part about her job is taking the raw data numbers and analyzing the results to form recommendations to clients. She enjoys all things art-related and traveling the world. She is a huge fan of basketball, lacrosse and volleyball. If she had it her way, she would spend every day in the water.

 

Spring 2014 Project Description

SMU students in the Spring 2014 FOX Sports U class designed multi-platform campaigns to reinforce FOX Sports 1 as the home of national and global soccer properties. Hosting the 2015 Women’s World Cup, and the 2018 Men’s World Cup, FOX Sports 1 is rising to the occasion of soccer’s bursting popularity in communities around the United States, as well as maintaining its passionate audience worldwide. Students created 360 degree campaigns to heighten awareness about FOX Sports 1′s involvement and support of the sports and its properties.

 

Professor Profile

Judy Foxman

Judy Foxman

Judy Foxman is Senior Lecturer of Marketing at Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business in Dallas, where she teaches Fundamentals of Marketing, Sports Marketing, and the Honors Marketing Practicum in the BBA Program.  Additionally, Ms. Foxman has taught in the SMU Cox Executive Education Program and has served on the faculty of the SMU Cox Graduate Marketing Certificate Program. She is the recipient of the C. Jackson Grayson, Jr. Endowed Faculty Innovation Award and multiple teaching awards for excellence in undergraduate teaching. Ms. Foxman has also been selected twice for inclusion in “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.”

Ms. Foxman is a graduate of Ithaca College where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications Management.  She received her Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Marketing from SMU Cox. 

Prior to joining the faculty at the Cox School, Ms. Foxman worked in consumer products brand management at Drawing Board Greeting Card Company and Anderson Clayton Foods, and was a principal in the marketing consulting firm of Daniels & Foxman, Inc.
